TranscenDent Summer Internship Opportunity

Presented by Dentacloud

Software Engineer Internship Job Description - Summer 2023

About Dentacloud
Dentacloud is a fintech platform serving the dental industry. Formerly a practicing dentist, Dentacloud’s founder, Dr. John Maggirias, brings a depth of knowledge about dentistry to his current role as a trailblazer in the M&A investment banking space. Together, the Dentacloud team has built over $300M in wealth for dentists.

We’re building innovative technology to automate transactions in the dental clinic M&A space. One-click valuations are our core business, but we plan to build further technology to expand our offering. Matching buyers and sellers through an online marketplace, managing the deal process with automation, and integrating multiple ERP systems as clinics are merged are just some of the products we will bring to market in the coming years. We plan to use modern technology to completely disrupt how dental clinics are bought and sold. While the dental space is niche, it has a large total addressable market. There is an estimated $10B worth of dental clinics sold in North America every year.

About the team
Dentacloud’s tech team is led by Yusuf Khaled. As Dentacloud’s CTO he is always pushing the limits to what is possible. After graduating from Waterloo Engineering, Yusuf joined Posh, a Boston-based AI fintech start-up, as the 12th employee. There he helped grow the company from 0 to 9-figure revenue, with over 50 enterprise clients, being promoted twice in the process, ultimately acting as the company’s first ever Tech Lead. He brings this strong engineering background to Dentacloud.

About the role
We’re looking for an outside-the-box thinking software engineer to join our development team.
Perks:

  • You’ll have a huge role in building our core suite of products. No tech debt, no old-school stack. Modern, clean code from scratch.

  • You’ll be working directly alongside our CTO.

  • Given we’re a scrappy startup, you’ll get the chance to flex into other areas of the product and business. Growth hacking, UI/UX, product strategy, backend, dev ops, you name it — there’s plenty of work to be done, and plenty of learning to be had along the way.

  • If you do great work throughout the summer, there’s likely an opportunity to join the team full-time after your internship.

What we’re looking for:

  • Competency in our stack:

    • React frontend (most desired for this position)

    • NodeJS backend

    • GraphQL API

    • Postgres DB

    • Running in DigitalOcean

  • A background in dentistry is ideal, but not required.

If you don’t meet the criteria above, don’t worry. As long as you’re eager to learn and have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, we’ll be happy to teach you.
